Ayorek invites you to share and contribute your stories in various forms:

Submission guide
1. Ayorek seeks stories in the forms of texts and other media (photo, illustration, sound, vidoe, etc.) based on everyday life phenomena in Surabaya.
2. Ayorek also publishes articles that may not be directly related to daily phenomena in Surabaya, but is related to the development of urban knowledge discourse, observation and research methods, or educations.
3. We are committed to provide more methodologically balanced, with diverse, intricate, nuanced views to build intercultural dialogues and urban knowledge dynamics, and thus do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, jobs, ancestry, national/ethnic origin, or any other social categories.
4. Articles are generally between 800 and 3,000 words long. Please note that the longer the article, the more images are required.
5. We aim for writings and media that present their ideas communicatively, grounded in everyday realities, in depth, fresh and not loaded with jargons.
6. The focus of our discussion topics can be found in our menu—or read our profile. Please do read posts that have been published in Ayorek first to familiarise yourself with our issues and styles.
7. The author is solely responsible for the copyright, facts and opinions implied in the publication.
8. Editorial staff reserves the right to edit the contents of text, but we will involve the author in the editing process.
9. We work to ensure that all articles are translated in both English and Indonesian (and hopefully, also in Javanese in future!). If you’re interested in translating an orphaned article, let us know!

If you have some ideas to write or to make comics, illustrations, photo stories or videos, contact us! You can explain to us briefly youridea, and then we’ll see what we can do. We can work together to complete your stories so it’s ready to publish. If you are located within Surabaya area, contact us and we can arrange a meeting to discuss your stories.
