Pather Panchali is adapted from a novel by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhay with the same title. This is the first of Apu Trilogi (1955-1959) by Satyajit Ray. Pather Panchali told the story of a poor family in Bengali India in the 1920s, centered on the life of Apu and Durga—brother and sister from a Brahm caste. This film raised social cultural issues in Bengali society with humanistic theme. This film receives influence from Neoralisme Italy and became a major milestone development of Indian cinema.
